Donner Lake

Donner Lake

“I guess this is goodbye. I know a lot of you expect some big speech about keeping up the good fight, but honestly, I don’t know what to say. You’ve all done so much for me over the years I don’t think thank you can really say it all. Alright, I’m gonna go.”
-Johnathan Reed, 0 Days Left

What actually happened to the Donner party during that dreaded winter still remains mostly shrouded in mystery. Nevertheless the Donner party has been able to maintain some knowledge of what transpired during those days. They know for certain that Lansford Hastings and John Snyder were allied to the demon of Donner Lake, and in fact led them astray on purpose in order to appease their master. Since that time the Hastings and Snyder family has been a constant thorn in the side of the Donner party. Hindering them at every step along their quest to find answers to their curse.

The demon itself is some sort of otherworldly entity that struck a pact with the patriarchs of the Donner party. The details of this pact will be described later on, but to make a long story shorter the Donner party agreed to its requests so that they all wouldn’t die in the mountains. Modern day members of the Donner party have not seen the demon, and anyone who has was never seen nor heard from again. The Graves family has various descriptions from a normal man, to some hideous winged beast, but the Graves believe that all of the knowledge revolving around the Demon is mostly hearsay or tall tales.

In today’s day and age the Lake serves as the sacrificial altar for the Donner party where they go to meet their end. It’s a place of sadness, despair, and reflection. The Donner party honors their dead, and Donner Lake serves as a living reminder of all those who came before.
